Thank you for explaining. It's vital that we understand the problems being faced if we are to come up with the right solutions. I don't see us adding a folder mechanism within route storage though, not in the near future. There just isn't enough demand. A search box might be helpful.

Thanks for the response, Tim. A search box would help.

Would a search box help within the Open dialog box? Also, the ability to rename and/or duplicate routes too.

I have approx 300 routes saved. I have habitually named virtually all of them in the format ‘XXX DEP-DEST [via AAAA] [Other Qualifier] where:

XXX is VFR or IFR.
DEP is Airport of departure, always a meaningful name except when it’s EGCW, my home base.
DEST is Destination airport, as above
AAA optionally would specify a particular route
The Other Qualifier may be used to annotate any other discriminator.

Routes extend to, from and within a number of Western European countries; some go back nearly as long as SkyDemon has existed, I’ll often plan a long multi leg trip some time in advance, playng with a number of options, whilst researching accommodation options for the overnight stops. If IFR it may take several iterations for each leg back and forth with EuroFPL or Autorouter to get an efficient route validated. I’ll keep routes, as though things may change, a route that has worked before is always the best starting point for flying to the same destination again.

I haven’t fully thought through yet how I would use folders, but the ability to save a basket of routes for a specific trip would be useful; as would grouping them by country or other area.

We currently allow alphabetic and date sorting. Could you perhaps elaborate on how many routes you have, the nature of why there are so many and your pattern of accessing them? Many thanks.

Now that the next release merges locallly saved and cloud saved routes by default, can I repeat my plea for a better way of organising them?

I name my routes following a consistent standard, but it’s still tiresome scrolling through them all to find one. Folders would help a lot.

Why not simply let the filename start by year-month-day, so the sorted list is automatically organized as loglist?

Because I like to organise them by IFR/VFR and airport of departure. It doesn't matter what sequence they are in, it's a pain finding the one you want when you have several hundred routes saved.

Could we not have folders in the Cloud storage?

It is true that organising the routes only based on the name is becomming complicated and that folders would greatly help.
